Hart's Design has completed two projects for us. The first was a very large remodel adding a second floor to our house. We were referred to Robert through our contractor and enjoyed working with him right away. This is our first major renovation and we are focusing on rearranging our kitchen/dining space and adding a mud room. Robert came to us with several initial design options and very creative ideas. He was even able to fit in a walk-in pantry and powder room which we never thought we could have in the space.

His easy-going nature and humor put us at ease. His communication was always prompt and he was quick to respond to any design changes/ideas that we would bring to him.

When our bids from our contractor came in above budget, Robert's expertise helped keep the integrity of our design while making some adjustments that would bring some costs down.

One other area we appreciated was his vision for how we could later transform the rest of our house. He kept these ideas in mind while designing our kitchen/dining area/staircase so we wouldn't find ourselves caught with limited choices down the road.

Robert Hartranft is the only house planner I will be working with through my entire home transformation. To years ago I saw his work displayed in the parade of homes and fell in love with his designs. When I met with him to discuss plans for the front exterior of my home, he was very respectful, personable, and you can tell that he really loves what he does. I hired Hart's Design to design an addition to my home in Edina. This included a garage, workshop, master bath, roof deck, laundry/mudroom expansion. sunroom, and kitchen expansion. Admittedly, I am a very particular/difficult client. Generally, I am not satisfied with anyone I hire and usually consider it successful if the interaction does not end in the exchange of profanity. I know this about myself and tell people this prior to working with them. I have never offered to serve as a reference for any contractor or designer in the past.

Robert was excellent. He took our ideas, added his expertise and brought it to life. He was responsive and timely and the rates were very reasonable. He delivered exactly what he said he would. I particularly liked that I could work with him to create a design/blueprints that we liked. I was then able to take these detailed plans and get bids from a number of contractors rather than being tied to a single design/build firm. This was some of the best money we spent on our addition.

I would recommend Hart's Design without reservation.
